so its friday yet again.

10 hours in the royal today.
what kind of person cries when they go for their ssc attachment, and then again when listening to her tutor talk to his patients?
hrmpf.

yes. my 2 weeks of elective orthopaedics ended with me tearing together with the patient and her family and my consultant offering me a lift home.

on a happier note,
i've really really thoroughly enjoyed myself so immensely its insane!
seriously, i've been honestly blessed with an exceptional experience!
despite the physical exhaustion, starvation (seriously doctors are these super. beings who do not need to eat. they thrive on coffee and coffee alone. ok. sometimes tea too.), the grilling that leaves me feeling completely inept, and the mental moodswings we go through while talking to patients and seeing. dead foetuses being manhandled.

the consultants, registrars and housemen (especially the housemen!) have been nothing short of amazing.
it also helped that my buddy elske is a freaking effective motivator and go getter.
this is what makes me really want to stay on and work in edinburgh.
and this is the kind of experience you can never, and will probably NEVER get in singapore.

it's also pretty damned heartwarming that no matter where you are, or how high or low you are on the hospital "foodchain", put two asians together and there will always be common ground. :)

i know i grumble a lot (ok. to myself) about waking up early (read: 5.30am) and sleeping late (2am nights) just to get work done and get my lazy arse down to the hospital. but once i'm there, its like time flies by like crazy and exhaustion only sets in when i leave the hospital and reach home. i just love talking to them patients. they're so kindly and seemingly harmless and its just so sad sometimes when you see them fraught with illnesses yet their passion for life still burns so brightly.
and it also reminds me to remember how blessed and lucky i am to be a healthy person. and be thankful for it.

and the simple
"thanks so much lover", or
 "you're an angel"
have this amazing powerful ability
to make any day, good or bad, a better one.

but anyway, its friday! and the weekend is here. :) this whole week of clinicals has been really really fun and interesting and as i told mattlee, i really think i will learn a lot in terms of integrating into the hospital system, but knowledge wise, there's loads to be done. but i realy am enjoying myself so much its just. so. i donno! haha. i think i might be enjoying this even more than concord, actually. i mean. well concord was enjoyable because it was small group teachings with the funniest cutest teachers ever and the friendliest classmates ever. but here, it's something i am so interested in and i was prepared to be barked at by tutors or those higher staff in the wards but honestly the fy1s, fy2s, registrars and consultants have been NOTHING but AMAZINGLY and UNBELIEVABLY friendly and tolerant. and some of them just really enjoy teaching so much you feel BAD actually for not knowing as much as you should.

and..about my cryptic posts, or lack thereof.

haha. ok lectures these 2 days have been ultra boring. and i did resolve to go to every class but unfortunately had to miss the whole morning's worth of lectures today. oh wells.

i got my card/badge thingie. FINALLY!!! though i didnt think i would get it today so i didnt bother to blow dry my hair. well i wasnt feeling too up for looking nice anyway. being sick always does that to me. it makes me feel as though i have to be as unattractive as possible. weird? yes i know.

anyways, so school has been good. i still havent gotten over the buzz of seeing everyone back again! although there are MANY MANY new faces this year! and everyone's super friendly and i feel as though. i donno. i feel glad i'm back at school. and i think i'll get even more excited come next week when the real rotation starts!

i think i have issues.

anyways. i've got a 2 and a half hour interview tomorrow...right after school. wish me luck people!

and i'm going to continue with my drama series now GOODBYE!

 

so today was eventful too! what a way to start autumn!!

woke up bright and early due to a very very uncomfortable abdomen. :( i think i've developed a sudden intolerance to i donno. gluten?? selective intolerance lah. haha.

so then i was supposed to go get stepho at pollocks but she came over anyway because i was in no shape to even get out of the chair. i got better after a while (poor steph she was starving since she didnt get any breakfast) so we set off with an original intention to get them nachos at biblos but we were waaay too early so it was still closed.
so. we settled for city restaurant.
steph sure knows how to milk it out of me, when i say i'm treating. haha.
she ordered a chicken burger, and a garlic and cheese pizzaaaa! i was frightened to death that any floury stuff would upset my stomach again so i ordered a tuna salad.

and oh my mama the portions were HUMONGOUS. so much so much toooo much! i snuck a piece of pizza (and then got a tummy upset again later) and couldnt quite finish my salad it was HUGE. HUGE. steph was. phwwwweeeet. awesome. she ate 5 pieces of pizza and her burger AND a milkshake! i think if i were a guy i would love her and her hearty appetite. we did leave a slice behind because we were way too bloated to even move.

so that was brunch. haha. we sat there joking about onion and garlic breath and then decided we both had really rancid breath so decided to get a stick of extra. haha.

then it was literally so long, and thanks for all the fish (for me anyway. im not gonna touch tuna for a long looOoOng time), and then we set off for glasgowww. :)

and we shopped. shopped and shopped til we almost dieded. the weather in glasgow is even worse than edinburgh. it fluctuates between windy, and then hot and sunny, and then rainy, and then hot and sunny, and then windy again! all in the span of just a few hours. tsktsk.

and we went absolutely MENTAL in primark and held up the LOOOONG queue with our huge shopping basket. but the total was pretty reasonable given the amount of stash we bought.
and then we had a quick dinner of. erm. haha. dried fruit, crisps, nuts and fruits. at the train station and then off i went to settle stepho down in her room again and i got rewarded with a red coat (hoohoo. i have been secretly wanting a red coat for a long time) and tall boots!! she didnt want them anymore so its MINE MINE MINE!!! :):) at times like this i'm really glad i've got a sister. haha! free clothes! whats more my sister is the ultimate fashionista so what she passes down..(or up...) is good stuff. :)

and then i'm finally back in my room! ah. nice and warm. wearing my new bedroom socks/shoes! warm at last! no more cold feet!

and now i'm suffering from a case of cold clammy hands because i'm MAAAAD excited about tomorrow. so excited its insaaane. wahhwahwah. 3rd year finally!!! whoop whooop! :):)


and the unfortunate sean kingston's beautiful girls is stuck in my head cos its EVERYWHERE in stores. grrrrr. annoying. annoyyyying.

and now i shall calm down and get some sleep. come now, tomorrow! :):):)
